Personal Branding Photography in Mandeville, LA

If people hire you because of who you are, your photos are doing sales work every day. For most professionals, they are doing it with one old headshot.

I’m Paige Henderson, the owner of Bellus Photography. I photograph personal branding sessions for founders, entrepreneurs and professionals from my studio in Mandeville, just off the Causeway. On this page I’ll walk you through what a branding session is, how it differs from a headshot, how I plan one, and what you leave with: a library of images that look like you and work everywhere you show up.

Personal Branding Examples

Here are recent personal branding sessions from the studio.

What Personal Branding Photography Is

Most professionals have one photo of themselves and use it everywhere: the website, LinkedIn, the conference program and the last forty social posts. After a while it stops looking like a brand and starts looking like the only picture you have.

Personal branding photography fixes that. One session gives you a set of images that belong together: close and wide, formal and relaxed, looking at the camera and at work. They share the same light, the same color and the same feeling, so everything you publish looks like it came from one person with a point of view.

What makes a set of brand images work

  • Consistency. Every image looks like it came from the same day, because it did. Your website and your social feed finally match.
  • Range. Tight and wide, serious and warm. You have the right image for a banner, a profile picture and a press feature without forcing one photo to do every job.
  • Purpose. Each image is made for a place it will be used. Nothing on the shot list is filler.

Personal Branding Is Its Own Service, Not a Longer Headshot

People often ask which one they need. A headshot and a branding session are different services with different jobs.

If one current photo is all you need, a headshot is the right call. If you are the face of your business and keep running out of photos to post, you need a branding session.

Who Personal Branding Photography Is For

What these have in common is simple. Clients are choosing a person, and they want to see that person before they get in touch.

Where Your Brand Images Get Used

Each of these needs a different crop and a different mood, which is why I plan the shot list around where your images will live before I pick up the camera.

Personal Branding on the Northshore

Business on the Northshore tends to run on relationships. Before someone calls a realtor or books a consultant, they usually look that person up first, and the photo is the first thing they see. A clear, current, consistent set of images tells them you are the person they heard about.

My studio is at 111 N. Causeway Blvd., Suite 208, in Mandeville. It is in an office park near the Causeway, with free parking on site. Here is roughly how far it is from the towns I serve:

The Signature Portrait Session

My Signature Portrait Session is a guided studio experience, and it is where personal branding begins. It includes:

Sessions last from 90 minutes to two hours.

How I Plan a Branding Session

The difference between a nice photo and a useful one is planning. Every session starts with a conversation, and we work through four questions:

  1. Where will your images live? Your website, your social media, a speaking page, a launch.
  2. What do they need to say? Approachable, authoritative, creative, calm. A financial advisor and a yoga studio owner both need to look trustworthy, but not in the same way.
  3. What will you wear? We plan your looks so each one has a job.
  4. What will we photograph? We build a shot list, so by the time you arrive, we know exactly which images we are there to make.

The shot list I build around your website

Your website is usually where branding images work hardest, so I plan for it first:

  • Home page banner: a wide image with open space for your headline
  • About page: a warm, relaxed portrait that feels like meeting you
  • Services pages: images of you working, explaining or with a client in mind
  • Profile picture: a tight, clean crop that reads at thumbnail size
  • Speaking and press: one strong portrait on a simple background

Then we add images for social media, so you have months of posts from one session instead of reusing the same three photos.

Wardrobe, Backdrops and Styling

What you wear tells people what kind of business you run before they read a word. I give you wardrobe and styling guidance built around your role and your brand’s look, so your clothing supports the message and does not compete with it. After you book, you receive a preparation guide with more wardrobe guidance.

Sessions include multiple looks. Variety in color, neckline and layering turns one session into a set of images that feels like it was made over many days.

Backdrops can follow your brand, too. In the studio I have white, brown and black paper backgrounds, and pink, blue and brown textured backgrounds. Other colors are available by request, and I have a large digital library of backgrounds I can add in post-processing. If your brand has a signature color, tell me during planning.

Professional hair and makeup are included in the Signature Portrait Session. If you wear glasses, wear them. I adjust your position and my lights to eliminate glare.

Style Portraits

A style portrait is a portrait with a point of view. The wardrobe, the setting and the light are chosen on purpose to say something specific about you, and the result looks more like an editorial feature than a business photo.

Style portraits work well as the lead image on a website or in a press feature, where one strong picture has to carry the whole first impression. We decide during planning whether your session should include one.

Studio and On-Location Sessions

The studio gives a clean, polished, editorial result, and it is where my Signature Portrait Sessions take place.

Some brands need a sense of place: your office, your shop, or a setting that says something about what you do.

Brand Photography for Small Businesses

If your business is more than just you, the same approach can work for the whole brand: a visual library made in one cohesive style, so your website, your marketing and your social media all match.

When to Update Your Brand Photos

Brand photos age faster than headshots, because you use them more. These are the signs that yours are due:

If a client would not recognize you from your own website, start there.

Your Branding Session Prep Checklist

A little preparation turns a good session into a great library. Before your consultation:

Hair and makeup are taken care of in the Signature Portrait Session, so that is one thing you do not have to arrange.

How a Personal Branding Session Works

1. We start with a conversation

We talk about your business, your audience and where your images will be used.

2. Planning

We settle the looks, the backdrops and the shot list. After you book, you receive a preparation guide with wardrobe guidance.

3. Hair and makeup

Professional styling happens before we begin, so you are camera-ready without arranging it yourself.

4. The session

I direct posture, positioning and expression from start to finish. You do not need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands.

5. Choosing your images

The session is not finished when the camera stops. Together we choose the images that best reflect your story, your purpose and the impression you want to leave.

6. Retouching and delivery

Each selected portrait is individually retouched and hand-finished, including natural skin refinement, color and tonal adjustments, removal of temporary distractions like blemishes, and final artistic polishing while preserving the details that make you look like you.

Personal Branding Questions

It is a planned set of portraits and images of you, made in one consistent style, for use across your website, social media, speaking and press.

A headshot is one or two images of your face. A branding session is a collection that includes headshots, wider portraits and several looks, planned around where you will use them.

Signature Portrait Sessions last from 90 minutes to two hours, including time for multiple looks.

Yes, in the Signature Portrait Session. I recommend professional styling for men and women.

Yes. Your images include personal use and normal professional self-promotional use: your website, social media, LinkedIn, business cards, speaker bios and PR. I don’t charge a separate licensing fee for those uses. Separate commercial licensing applies when an image is used as part of advertising or a commercial product, such as a book cover, a billboard, a paid ad campaign or product packaging.

Not if I’m doing my job. I direct every pose and expression in small steps and keep the pace relaxed. The images where you forget about the camera are often the ones you end up choosing.
